We are currently looking to add a new programmer to our team, and if you answered "yes" to these questions, then we need to talk.

What you will do:

You will do fun, challenging work and occasionally you will do mundane repetitive work. You will do maintenance programming. You will code new features. If you feel comfortable with it, you will troubleshoot server issues. You will work alone and you will contribute to teams. You will interact with and take lead from project management and project leads. When you`re ready, you will architect applications and lead teams. You will learn and you will mentor. You will try new things, including challenging commonly accepted best practices, and you will conform to predetermined solutions. In other words, you will genuinely try and want to make clients happy and you will rise to the challenge when tasked with new ideas or technologies.

Our primary server technologies are ColdFusion and PHP and we also develop iPhone apps, AJAX, Flash, and Flex front-ends, and of course HTML/xHTML, too. We`re looking for a solid programmer - in whatever your language of choice may be. The position requires a strong desire/ability to learn ColdFusion if you`re not already proficient, and strong desire/ability to learn whatever other technologies are necessary to meet the needs of our clients (including but not limited to the list of technologies above). We primarily use SQL Server or MySQL on projects, but like our programming requirements, general database skills and expertise in at least one RDBMS System is all we expect in a candidate.

Where you will work:

We have a great NYC office with lots of windows near a central subway and rail hub. It has a very open floor plan (no cubicles). We dress down most of the time, but are always at our best in front of clients. We are professional. We`re flexible and recognize that we all have lives outside of the office - and we also know that sometimes, especially crunch time, 40 hours a week just won`t get the job done. When it doesn`t, we act accordingly. We use our vacation and so will you: for your sanity and ours.

We consistently deliver hits out of the park to not only long lived and well-maintained clients, but also our new projects - this is a client driven environment and good communication skills are a must. We are small enough to have a refreshingly flexible and open minded attitude towards process and as mentioned, also small enough to make wearing many hats a necessity.

- Has the ability to work independently - coding, testing, gathering requirements, and communicating with clients

- Appreciates that meetings are necessary but detests unnecessarily long or unproductive ones. You can`t wait to leave a meeting and go back to writing code!

- Knows that communication is key to project success

- Believes that working less hours smarter is better than more hours harder

- Wants a full-time position in a stable, growing company

What I don’t need from you:

I`m looking for a good programmer - so make it clear what you know well. This position does not require knowing 50 different programming languages or software packages. If your resume doesn`t make it clear that you have had career focus on a few specific technologies, then you`re probably not a good fit for our needs. If you are looking to ladder climb and want to play politics this is also not the place for you. We do not pretend to know everything and mistakes are likely in every endeavor - what we`re looking for is someone that is happy to work and is ready to address and solve problems as they arise.
